Walking or running everyday is super important for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Not only is it good to get outside to get Vitamin D from the sunshine, but it is also good to exercise by running, jogging, or walking because the pounding motion during this exercise makes your bones stronger. This exercise activates osteoblasts (cells that build bones) and osteoclasts (cells that heal your bones). The osteoblasts help increase your bone density, and keep your bones from becoming brittle. This is why astronauts in space have to exercise regularly – to prevent bone density loss while their bones are not under the stress of gravity. So, I encourage you to go take a walk today, even if you only have 10-15 minutues – your bones will thank you!
